  • Intravenous (IV) therapy is administering fluids, Nutrients, & medications directly into a vein. using a small hose known as a catheter. This allows the body to get what it needs faster.

  • Many of the helpful effects from the IV come from rapidly replacing fluids, electrolytes, medications, and vitamins to help you recover.

This is faster because the nutrients go directly into your bloodstream and completely bypass the gastrointestinal tract or the stomach.

  • With IV push vs IV infusion , the process is similar. The biggest difference in our case is the fluid volume. An IM Injection such as Vitamin B-12 is a small amount placed in the muscle instead of a vein.

  • Receiving an IV is safe when done by a trained professional who has taken a proper history, preformed a physical assessment & has a plan.

  • All of our IV’s are started by experienced, licensed healthcare providers including Paramedics, Nurses, and Physicians.

  • Many people are afraid of getting an IV because of the needle but ours is very small which helps to minimize the pain. We are here to help you to feel better and promise to do our best to make you comfortable.

  • Bruising is uncommon after an IV but is a risk anytime a needle enters the skin. Small amounts of blood may leak outside of the vein and sometimes leave a small bruise or hematoma (firm collection of blood within the tissues). This usually improves within hours to a few days as your body reabsorbs the blood.

  • Any time there is a needle physically entering the skin, there is a small risk of infection, bleeding, bruising, and slight pain.

We do all we can to avoid these common side effects including proper prep, proper needle size, and using trained professionals.

Some people may have allergies to specific medications. We take a comprehensive history to reduce the chance of giving medications you may be allergic to. If an allergy does happen, we will take the proper steps to correct the problem.

  • IV fluids are safe in most healthy individuals. You are welcome to call our clinic if you have any questions about this.

We will take your medical history prior to administering any treatments to make sure that you’re a good candidate for our specific therapies.

We typically treat adults in our facility and require that you be at least 16 years of age (accompanied by a parent) to receive IV therapy.

Safety is our biggest concern and we do not treat individuals with certain medical conditions such as heart failure, chronic kidney disease, cirrhosis, and those who require care beyond our capabilities.

  • We do administer IV’s to pregnant women but do not recommend giving certain anti-nausea medications or other medications that could be harmful to your pregnancy.

  • Our IV’s do not contain medications that you can overdose on. All of the components are metabolized fairly quickly. Some people to receive therapy once or twice a week. Your body will let you know when you need a boost.

  • We can administer some oral medications or intramuscular injections based on your symptoms.

  • An IV Push takes generally takes 15 minutes or less, while an IV Drip (infusion) usually takes up to an hour. It really depends on how much fluid you are receiving, any special treatments you’ll receive, IV catheter size, and your own body. You will be in a relaxed environment where we encourage you to put your heet up and enjoy your experience.
